Notice the 100% humidity! We had a lot of rain yesterday with thunder and downpours. This morning everything is wet and dripping, and very green. It seems like everything is growing like crazy.
We were also just visited by a noisy bunch of oropendolas! What a treat to see these interesting birds, but they are so active they are almost impossible to photograph. Joel managed to catch one with the camera though, and I thank him for his patience and skill.

Ah, the dreaded Panamanian HUMIDITY. It is how I learned to love swimming pools and lakes. And, air conditioned EVERYTHING.

I actually don’t mind it. I never have to worry about dry skin or chapped lips. I agree though, nothing like some cool water on a warm day.

Your skin will never look better, if it tends to be dry. But, invest in hair products to avoid the FRIZZ. LOL

I have straight hair so a bit of frizz would be welcome. One of my newly arrived friends is having a heck of a time with her curly hair though!

Your hair should do well in the humidity, as long as you have an easy wash ‘n wear haircut. Just let it dry naturally and it’ll likely develop a little natural wave. Add a little leave-in conditioner to wet hair, and go.
Tell your friend to get some Infusium 23 (white bottle, should be available in most pharmacies and/or grocery stores) and wet her hair down with it. Use it liberally, as it WILL soak in.
Then, tell her to embrace the retro 80s/90s “crispy curl” gel look. If she was around in the 80s/90s she’ll know what I’m talking about. LOL Think “Soul Glow” commercial from the movie “Coming to America,” with Eddie Murphy.
Forget the blow dryer and/or flat iron on curly hair. It’s a losing proposition. Good luck!

Do you need dehumidifiers in your closet??

Yes, we have had some mold problems, and it doesn’t help that the closet and shower are part of the same room. We have a light and fan under the clothes, squeegee the walls after showering and don’t leave any wet clothes or towels in the room. After our last trip when we came back to a moldy situation my husband bought a dehumidifier and now we have a “dry room”, and can also put it in other parts of the house as needed.

Really?! We moved here from Sarasota FL, just up the road. We had air conditioning there so it’s hard to compare. I think the humidity here is higher in the rainy season but the temperature is lower, so it’s more comfortable (as long as you stay out of the direct sun)

Congrats to Joel for capturing the Oropendola! You’re right, they fly by so fast from tree to tree out back I would never be able to catch them.

I’ve only managed to get a couple pictures in all the time I’ve been here. They aren’t here that often and when they are they are too active.
