A Last Painting

The time for my trip back to the USA is coming soon, and I have finished the last painting I plan to take with me. This one is a gift for the granddaughter who is coming in November.

I think I like this one the best of what I have done so far. I feel like I learn a bit more with each painting. While I am gone I can sketch and think about future projects, and decide what I want to tackle when I return. I feel like I want to just paint more to sharpen my skills but at some point, I can see moving in a more abstract direction. We shall see.

I love the colors you used in the background coral. Your style is different than mine. I hope I am able to moved to Panama and take some classes from your teacher. I am taking painting class in the university, now we are doing portraits. I just finished a profile of my husband. Not as good as I would like. But I am getting how to do the placement of the eyes, ears etc. My class finishes at the end of December. Great painting, love your mermaids and the overall painting.

    • Thank you! You’ll have to share some of your work sometime. I’d love to see it. I really like this teacher so I hope you have a chance to study with him too. I don’t dare paint faces though. That’s difficult!

Your art works are lovely. I’m sure your grandkids will enjoy them. Your work inspires me to seek something meaningful – that I love – during retirement.

    • Thanks so much. That’s one great thing about retirement. You have the time to do some of those things you never had time for before, and sometimes you discover new things too.

Very good. You might get inspired by the famous painter Dali from Spain. He was a surrealist. He was also a sculpture. Dali is my favourite. Colours and 3D.

    • There was a Dali museum in St Pete, FL, just up the road from where we lived and I visited there a few times. He’s way far beyond anything I imagine ever doing though. Just his skill is amazing, not to mention his mind and vision.

    • Thank you so much. I never thought about either until a friend suggested we take painting classes. She still hasn’t made it but it sounded interesting enough, I have been going by myself and enjoying it a lot.
