This is the height of rainy season and oh my goodness, has it been raining! Usually mornings are clear and it doesn’t rain until late in the day, and it stops by mid evening. It can rain incredibly hard sometimes but it doesn’t last long.
This week though we woke up to rain on Wednesday morning. It rained all day, sometimes quite hard. It continued through the night and into Thursday, not as hard but pretty much steady all day. There have been warnings about flooding and possible land slides, so this is definitely not a good time to go swimming in the rivers and streams.
This morning it was cool and cloudy but not raining. It sure is wet out there though! I put a pitcher of iced tea on the terrace table Wednesday morning where it sweat and made a bit of a puddle. This morning, Friday, the puddle was still there, unchanged. I guess this is not a good time to hang out laundry 😀
This afternoon, the rain has come back, not hard, but just a steady light rain. The weather prediction says it is supposed to stop this evening but they are wrong as much as they are right, so we shall see.
Along with the rain has come some very cool weather. I have been in long pants most of the time, and even fuzzy socks and a sweatshirt.

Ok, you can stop laughing now. But now you also understand why we don’t live in the mountains. I’m most comfortable with temperatures in the 80’s. I am going to store this in my memory so I can pull it out in March, the height of the dry and hot season. It will feel good then.
The Panama Adventure 
“The weather prediction says it is supposed to stop this evening but they are wrong as much as they are right,…” My dad used to say if you believe a weatherman you’ll believe what a politician tell you. After recent events in the Great White North I’ll just leave it at that….

I’m most comfortable in 70s-80s temps. I think you were an amazingly brave soul to pedal down the western US in the chilly wet springtime in 40s-60s temps. I thought you were a adventurous spirit before, and now I’m adding brave to that. No matter what your gear, it is chilly camping in the rain. You will enjoy pedaling around Lake Chapala when you visit us in Mexico, promise!

I think I was just a bit crazy 😀 I think that was a good time to avoid the heavy tourist traffic I heard comes later on, but I learned quickly how to manage those chilly nights. I wore pretty much everything I had and made sure to get in the sleeping bag early before I got chilled and then I was OK. I sure enjoyed your warm house though, and was especially glad to wait out that rainy day with you.

I leave from Kansas to visit Panama here in a couple of weeks. I was thinking it was the rainy season there, but I couldn’t exactly remember and I hadn’t looked it up yet. Thanks for saving me the time. I usually visit Panama in the Spring here when I am tired of the ice and snow. My brother planned this trip. Oh well, lesson learned.

Kansas?! Where? We lived in Manhattan in the 80’s and 90’s before we moved to Florida.
The rain here should die down soon, and stop entirely sometime next month so you probably won’t get rained on very much. You will be here for Mother’s Day which is a huge deal here. Are you staying through the Christmas holidays too? More big events, parties, fireworks, lots of fun. You probably picked an excellent time to visit.

Well I’m with you on the 80 degrees thing. I’m already counting the days until spring here. I hate the cold weather with a capital H. We just got our first cold spell and it was 27 here last night. I have 3 layers of clothes on. We haven’t turned our furnace on yet for the year but will soon if this keeps up. It’s gets in the high 50’s/low 60’s for a daytime high. I guess I feel lucky we only have about 2- 3 months of cold weather. I’ve lived in much worse. And we get very little snow ( if any). Thank you God! But we get terrible wind storms. Every year the trees take a beating. We had a very large tree branch break the other night (about 8 inches in diameter). The wind howled around the house all night long. I guess there are issues everywhere you live.

Where are you again? Those storms don’t sound like any fun, and you are stronger than me making it without the furnace in those temperatures. Yes there are issues everywhere but Panama has the least that I have experienced. A few days of rain in a warm climate aren’t bad at all.

I’m in the south corner of Utah, not far from Zion Nat’l Park. Kind of at the corner of the Nevada/Arizona border. We still haven’t turned the furnace on, but the worst is in the morning when it’s downright nippy in here.

I’ve been there! I’d never seen that part of the country so on one of my US trips I took a detour and spent some time in Zion national park and Bryce Canyon. It was Incredible!! I arrived at the hotel at night so had no idea I was about to see massive walls of rock when I opened my door in the morning. I think it was March? It was chilly and there was snow at higher elevations. But I met up with another blog reader who lives in the area and she told me it’s darn cold in winter and beastly hot in summer so I think I picked a good time to go. I’m so glad I got to see a little of the area. It’s so beautiful!
I wish I could send you some of our warm, balmy air. Can you sleep until noon? 😀

I spent the day outside with a grandson and granddaughter working on their treehouse and we were all in sweaters (but not sweating). Cool AND breezy always this time of year in north Texas but brilliant sunshine so all good. I was just thinking the other day that the flooding seems to be more often in recent years? Boquete and Volcan seemed to have serious floods ~10 years apart. Then around 2000, the flooding began to be 3-4 years. Then back to back floods in 2008 and 2010. Gotta be something going on with Mother Nature or the hand of man, or both.

I don’t know what is going on here. It isn’t raining at the moment but it is predicted all day again. A few people have had to be rescued from flooding. People who have been here longer than I say this is very unusual weather.
