Flowers and Miscellaneous Things

Remember the pretty trees I’ve been seeing around town?

I stopped by one for a closer look a while back. I think it is a Crepe Myrtle. The flowers look right, though the leaves look a bit different than what I found on google and what I remember from the smaller variety that commonly grew in Florida. They sure are pretty!

I have a few other photos to share too –

Other than this, there hasn’t been much going on here lately. I’ve had such a bad cold that I’ve done pretty much nothing for the last week. Even paradise isn’t all rainbows and unicorns. One still has to do the laundry and weather the occasional illness. I’m still super tired but at least I’m finally showing signs of recovery. I actually slept through the night without coughing, and my head isn’t in such a fog.

Of course, Joel got it too so he’s coughing and sniffling today but thankfully isn’t nearly as sick as I was. Thank goodness, because we have to get our act together by Thursday because we are leaving to visit family in the US. I’m really excited to be seeing everyone, and the grandkids are growing so fast. I may not be blogging as much in the near future either but I might have some pretty pictures. It’s spring on the west coast and word is that everything is blooming and looking beautiful.

Everything is looking better here too. We’ve gotten some rain almost every day and it didn’t take any time at all for everything to get green again. Right now it’s 3PM, some showers just came through, and it’s a very pleasant 78F on my terrace. The birds are singing everywhere and the iguana with the pink face just strolled through the yard. It will be good to see family but it’s always wonderful to come back to our home in Panama.

  1. Hope you and Joel both get all well soon Kris.
Nice pictures! Yes – see, those trees- Lagerstromia Indica – not their little US cousins known as Crepe Myrtle. 😀

    Hola Kris,
The start of the rainy season causes everything to bloom, aliments included. Check at the farmacia for cures as they see more seasonal cases than the docs. They should have something that will fix you up.
    Get well, buen viaje.

    • They sell a Chinese cough medicine here that is better than anything I’ve had before. Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa. I saw it on amazon but I don’t know if it is sold in US pharmacies. It’s honey, menthol, and a bunch of other herbs in a Chinese looking red box. If you see it get some.
