We left Cartagena Sunday evening, and Monday was a full day at sea while we made our way to Curacao. We spent the day wandering around the ship, exercising in the gym, enjoying the food, taking some random photos, sorting through previous photos, and watching a cooking class in the main atrium.
The main atrium area was pretty, and often had something interesting going on.
One of the many bars on the ship.
Wandering down a pretty hallway to find the art auction.
A pretty decoration caught my eye.
The art auction was going to happen later in the day, and they had a whole lot of paintings for sale.
One of the restaurants looked pretty with all the glassware on the table.
We wandered back to the atrium to find a cooking demonstration going on.
The cooking class was on making a fancy cake, and this student (husband of fellow blogger Cindy) was doing an excellent job.
Looking good! (no surprise because we all know he knows his way around a kitchen!)
Ta da! Of course one must give the liqueur a final taste.
Later on, the wind and waves picked up and the boat was really rocking!
When the waves picked up and the boat started really rocking, it was funny to watch the water in the swimming pools. We were glad to have a room on deck 2 in the center of the boat because we were rocking a lot less there than most people. In the last part of the video, I’m not sure if they drained a lot of water from the pool or if it sloshed out.
Only I would be going through pictures enjoying myself to no end and then on the last picture feel sea sick. LOL A testament to the quality of the photo.
Welcome to colourful Willemstad in Curacao. This year there has been a lot of wind in the Caribbean. There is currently also a drought in the region. The island has not much vegetation, but wonderful beaches. You will enter Willemstad sailing under the high bridge. Go into town and also take a cab to go around a little. It is a small island. Regards from Saint Lucia with mountains,
rainforest and wonderful beaches.
I’m curious to see how you like Bonaire. Bonaire is my most favorite place (in the whole world – seriously) – we’ve been over 10 times since we started scuba diving. It would be my #1 choice for am early retirement destination if it wasn’t for its expensive nature for things like electricity, propane, etc. I hope you enjoy it!
If you like to dive, it’s said to be one of the best places in the world! For me, I can see it for vacation but I wouldn’t do well living on an island. I’m too much of a city gal. I’m really glad we got to visit though, and go snorkeling. It was really beautiful in the water. I think I liked the more laid back lifestyle of Bonaire the best of the islands we visited.
I figure the water sloshing in the pools isn’t something you see very often, so it would be fun to record. And, you can’t capture movement in a still photo like you can in a video.
It has long been my contention that stops on a cruise ship itinerary are not ‘destinations.’ They are short pauses used to suck as much money as possible from the passenger’s pockets and help local economies. The ACTUAL ‘destination’ is the ship itself. That’s why there’s so much neat stuff there.
Yes, I totally agree. And, the cruise ship also has multiple opportunities to suck money from your pockets. But, we got such a cheap deal and a chance to see some new places we probably wouldn’t see otherwise, so it worked for us.
Pool video was kind of funny. Go swimming then and end up with a cracked skull.

I heard that someone did bang his head trying to swim in the pool under those conditions!

This is so funny! Who would have thought to take videos of the pool water sloshing out all over the place. Pretty cool!

Well you know me, if there is something new or different, I’ll be pulling out the camera 🙂

Oh dear! I should have followed up with a photo of our seasick medicine (which thankfully came back almost unused)

Actually we didn’t sail under the high bridge, but docked at a pier and then walked over the moving bridge. Photos will be coming in the next post.

Great video and such a pretty ship! I would have done the same thing, take a video of the pool sloshing around that is.
