I heard an odd sound coming from the woods behind the house and realized it was these birds. It wasn’t a song, but a rasping sound like a grasshopper makes by vibrating his wings. The bird book says they are Masked Tityras, and they are common all over Panama. I’ve never seen them before though. Here is a male and his partner on the lower branch.
