Tuesday and Punta Jesus Maria

Our time continues on Ometepe Island, Nicaragua. We can see the Punta Jesus Maria from the beach in front of the house so it is close, and we heard it was a great place to visit so this was on the agenda for today.

First though, the day begins at the house.

Our destination was close so we set off on the bicycles. There was a sign on the road directing us where to turn off, and we found ourselves on a beautiful canopied side road leading to the point.

We reached the point in the afternoon when the sun was starting to get lower in the sky, and it was absolutely beautiful! Everyone who told us that this was a place that we must visit was certainly right.

As we headed home we passed my favorite view of the volcano from the airport.

Last, but certainly not least, we had another beautiful sunset over the lake right in front of the house. Life is indeed quite nice on Ometepe Island!

    • Yes indeed I am. Did you mean to post this comment on my blog or elsewhere? We will be traveling for another week or so, so there will be more coming. Thanks for stopping by my blog. 🙂

    Hi Kris,

Your photos are amazing – the volcanoes especially! Someone said it above, but they make you want to pack up and go there. I stumbled across your blog while beginning to think about a trip to Costa Rica next fall. Your site quickly confirmed my suspicions that I should stay for longer and visit Panama as well.

We are currently traveling in Nicaragua, on Ometepe Island. It is so beautiful here, but it is also beautiful in Panama, and in Costa Rica and so many places in this part of the world. Are you planning a vacation? This isn’t far from the Costa Rica border, or on the other side of Costa Rica in Panama are some of the most beautiful areas there too.

A friend is tying the knot in Costa Rica next fall, and so suddenly a trip to the region was on my radar. I was thrilled when she told me, among other reasons, because I had always thought I would like to visit Costa Rica – but did not have any foreseeable plans to do so. Being there anyways for the festivities, I think it only makes sense to take advantage of location and see more of the area. I had never really looked into the possibilities of travel and tourism in Costa Rica before, so doing some research and blogging has been exciting. How long did you spend in Costa Rica the first time you visited?

    • Oh dear, your comment got totally lost in my mailbox. I’m sorry for the very slow response!
We haven’t spent much time in Costa Rica, just a couple weekends in Golfito and Puerto Jimenez when we had to do a border run. This time we were just traveling through on our way to Nicaragua. It is such a beautiful country though I’m sure you will find things to do and see.
