Home Again

Just a short post to report that yes indeed, I am now back in Panama. It was a fantastic time with family, and I also have some photos to share of the special time we all spent together, both of my daughters and the babies!

I also took the new direct Copa flight round trip from Panama City to San Francisco, and then flew back from Panama City to David on one of the new domestic Copa flights. Since I picked up a cold somewhere along the way, I was especially happy to spend an hour on a plane instead of a day on the bus. I will share more details of the flights also.

Right now I’m just relaxing at home, trying to get back in the correct time zone and get over this cold. I’m looking forward to catching up with all my friends and activities and, if I can actually wake up before the morning is mostly over, I could even get back on my bike!

So, for all of you who wonder where I am and what I’m doing, don’t worry. All is well and I will be out and about very soon!

    Hello Kris,
Did you have a wonderful time with your daughters and grandchildren?
I just want to make sure that I read your note right. Did you say, that it’s an hour by plane and a whole day by bus from Panama City to David? Why does it take so long by bus? I would have thought that by air it would take about 45min.from Panama City to David.
I would have thought that you was going to stay through the New Years.
    I’m glad your feeling better…Chris

    • Thank you. Yes, I had such a good time, a very special time.

I think it’s almost exactly an hour from Panama City to David on the plane, at least it was on Copa from Tucomen. The bus however, takes about 3 hours or more to get to Santiago where they stop for a half hour break. Then, they get to drive through construction to David which is 3 1/2 hours on a good day, or maybe 4 1/2 depending on traffic. The buses are big and comfortable and they usually play movies but it still feels like a long time by the time you finally get done.

I’d been with the kids and away from home for long enough, don’t want to wear out my welcome and the other grandparents for both babies are going to be there through the holidays. We’re keeping in close touch on line though. Besides, the holidays here in Panama are a lot of fun.
