We visited the river a couple days ago and we met with the most interesting sight! There were so many butterflies on the river bank, and quite a few different kinds. It’s the summer dry season now, so I think they are attracted by the water. They all seemed to be gathering where the ground was wet next to the river.
There were a lot of these green and yellow butterflies at the river one day.
A pretty swallowtail.
We only saw a couple of these swallowtails, and few of the blue butterflies.
More green and yellows in another spot.
If you get too close they fly and the air is full of them.
Here’s a brown, beige and red one with a black and white one nearby.
Joel walks with the butterflies.
These are especially beautiful!
More green and yellows next to these amazing others.
This beautiful little one was in the woods on the way back home.
And, of course, I can never go to the river without taking more photos. I think it’s such a beautiful place.
Summer flowers are starting to appear.
The river is beautiful at any time though.
This odd little fish was swimming near the river bank. It’s face was black on one side and white on the other.
There were some kids having a blast on the other side.
Even the dogs were enjoying the day.
It’s funny to think we are having summer while most of our friends and family are so very cold up north! I wish I could send you all some of this sunshine and warm, balmy air.
Oh, and last but not least there is a bit of video of the butterflies. The shrieking is the kids having a great time on the other side of the river.
