Butterflies at the River

We visited the river a couple days ago and we met with the most interesting sight! There were so many butterflies on the river bank, and quite a few different kinds. It’s the summer dry season now, so I think they are attracted by the water. They all seemed to be gathering where the ground was wet next to the river.

And, of course, I can never go to the river without taking more photos. I think it’s such a beautiful place.

It’s funny to think we are having summer while most of our friends and family are so very cold up north! I wish I could send you all some of this sunshine and warm, balmy air.

Oh, and last but not least there is a bit of video of the butterflies. The shrieking is the kids having a great time on the other side of the river.

  2. Swallowtails are rare here. They are the largest and the most beautiful butterflies in Germany.

By the way … A Happy New Year … 😀

Hi Kris, back in 78-80 I remember the butterfly migration. They seem to be traveling from Colon to Panama City. Wow. Good to see. Dave.

    • That’s right, butterflies do migrate. I remember once in the US when thousands of monarch butterflies came through. Most of these are butterflies I’ve seen in the area though, except those turquoise swallowtails. Hopefully none of them are going north right now!
