A Blue Bug

We were hunting for mangoes one day when I saw what looked like a very large wasp.

It was very busy scurrying around in the leaves, opening and closing its wings.

When the sun caught the wings there will be this glimpse of intense blue and purple!

It was a very busy and active bug which made it very hard to photograph. But, I took a lot of photos and a few of them were acceptable.

I’ve never seen anything quite like this, but that is how it is in Panama. There always seems to be something new and interesting and with so many bugs here, often it is a new and beautiful bug!

Wow, that looks similar to a bug here in northern Illinois. I swear I’ve seen them here, hmmmm. I always love to see your wildlife and foliage photos, Kris!

What a beautiful blue! I think it’d be hard to be squeamish (even for me!) around insect life that pretty. Granted, I’m saying that from behind the safety of my computer screen…but still! Thanks for the photos…really interesting!

    • It was pretty and glad you enjoyed it too 🙂 I have a very hands off approach to bugs since I’m sure most can sting or bite if they need to, but I love taking photos of them. Bugs here seem to be pretty mellow though and I’ve never had one come after me… well… except once when I got way too close to a nest of bees but that was my fault, and they only sent one bee out to tell me to back off.
