This weeks photo challenge is patterns. To me, a pattern is something that repeats, a predictable element – an idea, a color, a texture. I had no idea where I was going to go with this until we took a walk down to the river this morning.
Many types of grass are flowering, and when you look down on them the flowers look like stars, or snowflakes, or patterns of lace.
.
There were many leaves with interesting color patterns and textures.
interesting texture
patterns of white on these leaves
delicate patterns of little leaves on each stem
very pronounced texture
a fern with patterns of leaves, with the pattern further reflected in the sections of leaves
another texture pattern
a pattern of color in the different shades of green
More interesting color patterns in leaves
My new guandu plants, the seeds a gift from my neighbor. I didn’t realize what interesting texture patterns are in the leaves until I looked closely at the photo.
.
A few other things that caught my eye.
Patterns of light on the water
Delicate patterns of texture on some fungus growing on a downed log
The patterns on the skin of a caiman in the river

You posted some good ones. Sometimes I remember something I have on hand that will fit a photo challenge, but this time they are all photos from today. I wanted to see what was going on at the river. The water level is definitely higher, water still fairly muddy, and my goodness everything is growing down there! So, I had a lot possibilities to photograph. One of these days I’ll have to post some of the river photos I took today too.

Excellent photos, nature is full of patterns and I am glad that you chose that path. Nice change from many buildings I’ve seen used in this weeks challenge. Great job!

Thank you! 🙂 Buildings can be very interesting but nature is my first love, and it’s right outside my door.
