Our friends have a place at Las Olas, at La Barqueta beach and invited us out for a visit. It was such a beautiful evening!
Birds on the sand
The swimmers and the hills are barely visible in the mist and golden light.
The sun gets lower in the sky.
There were a lot of people enjoying the evening at the public beach.
Watching the sunset and drinking wine with good friends. It just doesn’t get better than that.
I love the reflections of the sky on the wet sand.
Joel heads out for an evening dip.
The full moon is amazing.
A couple out for an evening stroll.
As the sunset colors fade everything looks more and more blue. It’s a magical time of night.

About Kris Cunningham
We live in David, Chiriqui Provence, Republic of Panama! This blog is about some of our experiences in our new country.
All of this scenery was available to you in Sarasota. Why is the western view more desirable to you in Panama?

Mainly because we can afford to live here without working. Also, we are enjoying the new experience, the people, the country, the culture, and no hurricanes! There definitely was beautiful scenery in Sarasota though, and the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen were in the Florida Keys. My interest in photography began in Florida.

Some VERY nice pictures. You realize, Joel, every time you go for a swim like that you’re voluntarily entering the food chain.

LOL Yes, but the fun of riding those waves is worth it. Besides, he’s getting too old and tough to be interesting 😀
Seriously, I’m more afraid of the rip currents than anything. Things seems pretty peaceful when we were there this weekend but I’ve been there on days when I wouldn’t get in the water. A good friend’s son-in-law drowned there trying to rescue someone, and I know there have been many others too.

I was going to ask if this is the same beach with the rip tides but I guess that question has been answered. Beautiful sunset!

Yes it is, and I’ve been there before when the currents were so strong I was uneasy to stand in water above my knees. There are some really nice sunsets there though.

Wow those are great photos! You should frame them and sell them up in Boquete.

Thanks 🙂 I have thought about that, but then it becomes work.. materials, tools, matting, framing, marketing… and I don’t know the legalities of doing that here. I enjoy it a lot as a hobby though.

Gorgeous sunset and moonrise pics Kris! I remember when we visited this beach the waves on the dark sand mirrored the clouds overhead. Beautiful effect. Susan
